Welcome to Robertsbridge Cricket Club!

Robertsbridge I 244 Crowborough I 245-7

This was another high scoring day at a cold and cloudy Clappers. The home team elected to bat and were all out for 244 in the 49th over. The innings started with a stand of 113 between Dave Collins(47) and Paul Nice(67). This stand was broken by Ian Millman (16.2-5-51-4) who also accounted for Ben Collins(43). Adam Neill (27) was the only other batsman to make a significant contribution. In reply I.Easton(67) and D.Foden(84) led the run chase and despite Stephen Ramsden (12.5-2-56-5) taking five wickets victory was achieved off the penultimate ball by 3 wickets.

Alfriston 96 Robertsbridge II 244-5 dec

The Robertsbridge team began life in Division 7 with a resounding win. Tom Glenn(100 not out) led the way, despite having to retire part way through with a cut eye. He shared in an opening stand of 136 with Sam Collins(47) and with all the batsmen making a contribution they set the home side a formidable total. It was a total that Alfriston never got to grips with despite an injury to Jake Lingard. James Bristow (6-0-32-3) and Phil Green (8.2-3-15-2) were the pick of the bowlers and victory was completed in the 25th over.

Mayfield III 186-5 Robertsbridge III 185-2

Robertsbridge were asked to bat first at the excellent facility at Mayfield. Some tight bowling meant that when the first wicket fell at 45, 19 overs had gone by. The second wicket soon followed but then an unbroken stand of 127 between Paul Brett(102 not out) and Nick Moor(46 not out) saw their team to a creditable 185-2 from a rain reduced 46 overs. Mayfield batted sensibly in reply with D.Attwood(68) and P.D'Aguilar(60 not out) making sure that they always kept up with the required run rate. All the Robertsbridge bowlers took a wicket but they were never able to exert the required control and Mayfield reached their target in the 36th over.

Well done to the under 14 team who beat Heathfield Park on Sunday

At the AGM new subscription and match fee rates were discussed. The new subscription is to be £10 for everyone. The match fees will be £10 and £5 for juniors and those who are not employed. Fees have not been raised for at least 7 years. If you play 15 games this will represent an approximate 6% rise from last year.

To guard against the uncertainty of the Great British weather we thought we'd include the following feature. Sadly, the BBC would only forecast for Battle, not the Bridge, but it's close enough...

Warning: All forecasts should be read with blind optimism!
